Elmeyr (Foundation Lands Supplement)
From D&D Wiki
"Elves were the first to speak, they were the first to settle in cities, the first to use arcane magic properly, the first to control their surroundings, so according to those who dwell in Elmeyr, they are the elder people. Many humans and Dwarves from distant lands tend to think of elves as a single nation with a single culture and language that brings them unity. That is far from the truth. Similar to a well structured family, they keep their divergence hidden from outsiders, but it is there. The two cities of the valley elves consider themselves superior to their neighbors in the forest, some even using the old name of high elves. Among the forest elves two groups have settled and one still wanders the continental forest. Any of these five section would not be able to understand the other without the aid of Elmeyrish, the language of the forest. It can be said however that elves, in comparison with other races, tend to value life and freedom, considering pleasures as something as important as food. The amount of time as elf spend simply worshiping beauty or getting a single hair of a statue eyebrow right is unthinkable for a human, and deadly tedious to a dwarf. I have to say, the first time you see their cities, with their crystal leafs, luminescent flowers, colored silken ropes and sculpted trees, it gets easier to understand why. "
Elmeyr is the kingdom of the great forest but this name may be misleading. While there is in fact a king, his rule is limited to calling an army when an external menace is sufficiently strong to be a threat to all elves. The king or queen is also considered the highest priest of the elvish faith, the Great Dual.
The huge forest is divided into five regions:
Aelin[edit]
The southwestern region of the forest has one of the largest lakes in the world and is home to Aelinith elves. Their home has the most resemblance with human dwellings as these wood elves build with wood and stone outside the heavy leaves of the great forest. Their city is built half on the shore and half in the lake, in the form of entangled floating houses. They deal frequently with the Dwarves and engage in the everlasting western war against the tempered orcs. They considered the lowest ranking elves and are the most distant to the central crown.
Despite their low status, the Order of the Wilderness is highly regarded in all elven lands.

Amrun Tarn[edit]
The western region is home to the most renowned druidic order in the world. This semi-urban druids developed advanced nature magic and created great trees whose shape can be easily manipulated when growing, enabling elves to sculpt and live in ever-growing trees. Many rangers live is this lands and the sheer variety of flowers and external gardens built in their home-trees is bewildering. They rule over a dozen settlements of significant size, with the everwind tree palace in the capital. This 120m tall tree creates a constant breeze around to alleviate the intense heat of the region. Their cities have no walls, but the Rumna bush are strategically planted. Infused by druidic magic, these bushes create true barriers of thorns that are almost impossible to burn, making them an outstanding defense mechanism.
Imroth[edit]
The Eastern Valley is the home of the first valley elves (high elves) where the city of air and light, Welenast resides. These elves altered their entire region with arcane magic. In the capital the mountain river creates many waterfalls and the great palaces of the elves is sculpted in besides the waterfall. The rich always have river water flowing to the houses and an internal roofless garden covered in crystal trees. These trees have leaves that filter light of different color shattering sun and moonlight in many colors. All around the city there are pale yellow stone bridges with many fruit-trees planted on the sidewalks. The trees have statues of great elves of the past carved on their side adorned by golden linings. Some meters under the buildings two rivers cross the city, but the waterfalls make them impossible to navigate, requiring a 5 km to the nearest port. Here lives the king and one of the most prestigious arcane universities, Ularan, the golden hall.
Talath[edit]
The second valley land is in the Western valley and is the commercial and cultural heart of the forest. The strong silk trade made them mighty and the entire city is adorned with arcane silk. Colorful bridges are built with silk and wood and while the buildings are similar to those of Imroth, their clothes are much more varied and colorful, their music is happier and louder and food tastier. They are the second most isolated elves and paradoxically the most interested in foreigners. The vast amount of leisure options in the city makes it a vacation paradise for other elves. Any foreigners from the high races, humans or dwarves, is met with curiosity by the locals, and if articulate enough, will often find themselves in the center of the group. Being the veins of the forest and masters of river trade, they have plants, songs and goods from every other region. Their pride is the great haven, that serves not only as a port, but also palace and temple. Ruled by the council of the wise, they are often the fast elves to act and the responsible for the summoning of Nasurien to protect their lands.
Solandir[edit]
The rest of the forest, more than three quarters of the land are the Solandir, lands of the wanderers. Home to the ever-walking wood elves, the rest of the forest hides many hidden homes, clearing and trading outposts of the Soland elves. The only who remained nomads, they consider themselves the purer of the elves as well as the strongest. They do not have a leader, but they choose a representative among the herd guides. They divide in herds of up to 10 thousand elves, hunting and planting trees while travelling to feed both themselves and their prey. Among the elves they are the most carnivorous. They constantly trade with other elves for crafted metal, silk and other manufactured items. Almost no wizard comes from their ranks, and despite their nomad lifestyle, most of them spend at least a decade among the civilized elves, both to learn from them as well as to strengthen relations, however not many stay in the cities for too long, as they have a strong love for the untamed forest.
