Eliotrope (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Eliotrope[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
Eliotropes are humanoids that have glowing cyan eyes and luminescent hair that resembles the structure of trees. They are meant to resemble and mirror the image of their creator, the god-king. They are very pale, almost marble-color in skin tone. They often have facial paints around their eyes and lips that are also shades of blue. They are well-known to always be wearing odd hats, which they are never seen without and never take off.
History[edit]
They appeared during a freak accident when a huge battle between mages, alchemists, and demons caused a wormhole in time and space, warping it. From this event, similar to a big bang for their race, everything for the eliotropes was created. The eliotropes came to be, made in the image of their god-king. This mysterious entity is the centerpiece of worship for the eliotrope, who believe themselves fragments of a hero who transcended to godhood.
Eliotropes are considered an alien presence due to their weird birth. Thus, the world around them does not fully acknowledge them. Over time, they built their homes around their temples erected to their maker, trying to make their own place in the world. Where they may have come from exactly is not quite a question they seek to answer fervently. Through their existence as these mysterious figures of forgotten legend, eliotropes gained amazing insight into the power of life forces. This, coupled with their abilities to manipulate space to move at light speeds, proves crucial to their survival as a race.
Society[edit]
Eliotropes rally under their symbol, the portal. They are a pseudo-theocratic society, with many temples built to honor their creator and progenitor of lineage. In their low-population density societies, they live in relative isolation, practicing their art of portal-making and worship. This art has occasionally put many an eliotrope in danger. Though isolated, they are not immediately hostile and strive to live as their god, who is rumored to be compassionate.
Dressed in their strange hats, that they never take off, the eliotropes are a race weighed down by a certain sadness, possibly caused by the murkiness behind their origins and their rejection by their current home world. They are sometimes referred to as being dark and shadowy, yet they seem to exude an internal light. Life force flows through their whole being, and they are proficient in its manipulation. They're said to be very ingenious, and they have exceptional artists and craftsmen in their number.

Eliotropes tend to have their own language, but have allowed humans to simplify their names so it's more pronounceable.
