Drifting Geysers (5e PlantFungi)
From D&D Wiki
Drifting Geysers[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
A single drifting geyser stems from a cluster of moss-like green the size of a quarter. However, the aquatic weeds rarely grow individually, and usually form near-spherical clods of plants that range from 4 in / 10.2 cm to 8 in / 20.3 cm in diameter. Drifting geysers constantly release gasses that bubble out like a geyser, hence the name. They grow in the Flaming Tundra's rivers and lakes, floating in the waters just beneath the inches of ice.
Ecology[edit]
Drifting Geysers are the main food source of the Flaming Tundra cod, as well as the devil's trumpeter. The gasses inside are similar to that of gas grass, but less potent.
Growth and Harvest[edit]
A drifting geyser will cloud into a group over the course of a few months after it reaches maturity, and will continue to grow and spread. However, Flaming Tundra cod constantly keep it down to a certain level. In areas with less cod, drifting geysers are much larger in group size.
Edibility[edit]
Drifting geysers aren't very nutritious, but are mostly edible. As they contain undigestible gasses, creatures without the proper gas sac (or creatures nonnative to the Flaming Tundra, rather) will suffer painful flatulence about an hour after consumption.
Other Common Uses[edit]
Drifting geysers don't have many uses.
Drifting geyser Traits[edit]
Clods of aquatic weeds from the Flaming Tundra that constantly emit bubbling gasses.
Age. A single drifting geyser germinates almost instantly and reaches maturity in about a week. Other drifting geysers will cloud around the original, as they reproduce very fast.
Size. 4 in / 10.2 cm to 8 in / 20.3 cm in diameter
