Drevanius (Campaign Seed)
From D&D Wiki
“ | In the beginning, there was nothing. Not even the gods existed then. But, out of this nothing the terrible and mighty Bei'rak formed, and they made the First Dragons. Content to use the dragons as their slaves, the Bei'rak cared nothing for creating more life. But the First Dragons did. They overthrew the Bei'rak, and sowed the land with life. The world and planes were formed. Then the First Dragons made their own lives, and then became their protector, taking a different form based on their creations' needs. This is how the world formed." | ” |

The World of Drevanius[edit]
The world of Drevanius is a land of climatic extremes - many ares are frozen solid wastelands, others are lush, tropical jungles. Huge mountain ranges rise up against swampy bogs, and plains stretch for miles, only to be abruptly cut off by thick, impenetrable forests. There are thus plenty of resource-rich realms throughout, all with the means to declare unprovoked war. Rare are the times when the land is fully at peace; only the oldest are usually able to remember them.
The Northern Lands[edit]
For the most part, the north of Drevanius is a frozen tundra. Glaciers carved enormous valleys and canyons out of this landscape long ago, and most of its inhabitants are giants, dwarves, and Taer (see Unapporachable East or Creatures of Drevanius for more information). There are, however, a few more temperate realms (mainly forests) in the southern area of the north, and they are inhabited by many elves and gnomes. Since this is one of the only livable places north of the Skyteeth Mts., there is fierce competition - between both sentient and unsentient races - about who lives there. As a consequence, kingdoms there rise and fall very quickly, the only one to survive long enough to be noted being the Langorge Empire. Many ruins and strange items from the past can be found in the "Bountiful Belt."
The Eastern Lands[edit]
This is where some of the more exotic things (people, classes, magic, objects, etc) come from. Blocked from the northern lands the Elthrei River and from the south by the Dragon Clans of Kulhudrin, there isn't much southern (or northern, or western) influence to change the landscape of people of the east for the hundreads of years of it's exisence. Most of the land here is jungle, with mountains rising out of them and rivers carving deep paths in them. A few empty plains lie scattered about, and this is where most cities are gathered. To the north of this area, there is the mighty Rhac'than desert, created in the fabled Rage of the Darbei (see Creatures of Drevanius for more information about the Darbei.) Few dare to enter this forbidding wasteland, but those that do return with tales of fabulous lost cities and laden with treasure to prove their claims.
The Southern Nations[edit]
Calling this area "the south" has been labelled a misnomer by many geographers, pointing out that it is mostly around the equatorial line and everywhere else is just extending from it. Be that as it may, this is the land where most lasting kingdoms are built. For the most part plains, this area also contains mountains and froests. Occasionally, a brief period of unrest signals the fall of one or two old kingdoms and the rise of a few new ones. The one kingdom that has survived the longest is the shadowy realm of Q'Thrum'Dos, totally surrounded in mountains and ringed in protective walls, visible from miles and miles away. This is more similar to the standard DND setting and thus is where many adventurers hail from.
The Western Oceans[edit]
The west of Drevanius is mostly aquatic. There are numerous small islands, but they are mostly marshy and unlivable. There is rumored to be a land of pure good beyond the farthest islands, but nobody has made it there and lived to tell. The northern oceans are home to assorted seafaring giants, who eke out a living on their islands and raid others' for food. Slaves are very rare, since they are a drain on any community's resources. Some are taken but left unfed and slowly starved to death. It is a cruel fate indeed to fall into the hands of these brutal creatures, since any that they capture that are unfit but unable to work become food.
