A Digi-Brawler, Greymon(the Dinosaur Digimon) combatting against Kuwagamon(The Bug Digimon) in Digimon Adventure Tri.

(Disclaimer: Digi-Brawler is a Background that requires you to be of the Digimon Race. There is a similar background for Humans to fight Digimon that is in the works of being made.)

Digi-Brawlers come in many shapes, and sizes, Digimon-Variants, Digimon-Species, Digimon Groups, and more. There are Digimon who fight to absorb data and just grow in power, Digimon who fight just for fun and to find self-improvement, and Digimon who fight to destroy worlds; a lot more Digimon exist over just those used by Digi-Destined and Tamers that classify as Digi-Brawlers. These Digimon, known as Digi-Brawlers, are better known for their singular purpose of fighting to develop themselves in some type of way that normal Digimon doesn't prioritize. Digi-Brawlers also perform invasive maneuvers to start fights, which often results in the destruction of Digimon who try to intervene. For the most part, Digi-Brawlers are expected to be these ruthless monsters because that's how the majority are. Typically, they have no code of honor and try solely to start fights that let them develop as Digimon. As such, it should come as no surprise that Digi-Brawlers can often encounter the strongest of Digimon to start fights and try to win against them--proving their strength. The idea of reaching a dream: Digivolution, can lead Digimon that may usually be good-natured astray and push them into a Brawling position where their sole focus is Digivolution.

When creating your Digi-Brawler Digimon, consider what sort of Brawler they are. Digi-Brawlers who fight to improve themselves without killing and for the greater good are not unheard of and often are welcomed and become Guardian Digimon of certain areas. Of course, there do lie thorns even on the nicest of roses, and your Digimon could very well be a Digimon who fights to kill and take data, improving that way. Or are you perhaps a brawling veteran who has seen and fought many Digimon, vowing only to go further and increase your experiences rather than power? Do you discriminate between the Digimon you fight, choosing only to fight certain Digimon species? Do you discriminate against the Digimon you fight in that you'll only fight Adult, Perfect, or Ultimate level Digimon? Do you have more knowledge of fighting individuals of these specific species and levels over others? What is your special Digi-Brawler touch? There are those that specialize in Close-Range battles, trying to keep a battle centered toward the immediate range, and Digi-Brawlers who specialize in firing from afar, maximizing ranged assaults.

What drives your Digi-Brawler? Power? Fame? Digivolution? Revenge? Joining a famous Digital Group? Digi-Brawlers are generally recognized one way or another within locations they stay close to. Have they maybe experienced being on the tail-end of a Digi-Brawler, spurring them into this field? Due to the more cold-hearted nature of this field, Digi-Brawlers may disassociate themselves from getting to know anyone, for fear they might one day have to fight them and don't want attachments. Consider how your Digimon deals with all the combat encounters--and perhaps even deaths--they may have seen, as well as any miracles of Digivolution they may have witnessed. They, above all others, know the fragility of life and how easily it can be forgotten just because a Digimon reincarnates. In a world where the weak most certainly can't survive for long periods of time, a Digi-Brawler takes their life and sometimes even other lives, into their hands.

Skill Proficiencies: Athletics and Acrobatics

Tool Proficiencies: None.

Languages: Common

Equipment: A bedroll, blanket, a detailed note written by an old master explaining where they see you specialize in fighting, a map taken from a defeated foe that will lead you to a bigger challenge.

Specialization: Fighting-Style[edit]

Digi-Brawler Digimon vary widely based on not just their Digimon Species, but also how they specialize in fighting. Some take to the skies when they battle, and others fight in the ocean. Majority fight on land. Despite this, there are still members of a Digi-Brawler who focus on much more specific areas when it comes to their fighting style.

d6 Specialization
1 Digi-Jumper. Whenever you get into combat, you often always jump into the air, trying to attack while coming down from the height of your jump.
2 Digi-Fu. You are quite the pro with being a master of hand-to-hand Combat, taking up the ancient ways of Digital Kung-Fu as you fight. You stay close to your enemy, going for strikes in close range.
3 Ranged Digi-Trooper. Your specialty when it comes to fighting focuses on staying at a distance, unleashing ranged attacks whenever you fight.
4 Aerial Digi-Fighter. While fighting, you often take to the skies and fly, turning what would be a battle into one where you have the advantage through flight.
5 Digi-Weapon Master. You utilize a weapon whenever you fight, promoting your opponent to be extra careful else they taste the end of your weapon--and not in a good way.
6 Distracting Digi-Fu. A slightly altered style of Digi-Fu, where you focus on distracting your opponent to promote Attacks of Opportunity, taking your chance to strike when their guard has been lowered.

Feature: Mind, Body, Core[edit]

Through hardened encounters your Mind, Body, and Digital Data have sharpened, causing your Digital Core to slightly alter. Your combative style as a Digi-Brawler has directly impacted the way you can live and has focused your Digital Core to increase and grow as you fight, making you stronger and stronger. A Digi-Brawler causes others to see you as a being in society who, while can do good, will often prioritize themselves, and the Digi-Core reflects this. At the end of every combat encounter that you win, you notice you reap the benefits more than others do. You often find ways in which you could have done better during the encounter, and note that you need to work on yourself to improve.

Alternate Feature: Data-Consumer[edit]

Like most Digimon who classifies as a Digi-Brawler, you fight to improve. However, when you fight, you don't take away as much as you would like, and have developed a way around that. Your Digital Core has slightly been modified so that at the end of encounters that you win, you can get a benefit through consuming data. When you consume the data of a defeated Digimon, you gain more experience with your own capabilities without directly having to improve them through practice. Data-Consumption is usually frowned upon because of this, but the strongest do what they have to do to survive.

Suggested Characteristics[edit]

Digi-Brawler Digimon drives many different paths in life to end up where they are. Some may have a natural feel for this type of lifestyle, while others had to grow and develop from the very beginning. Others may have had a mentor that helped, putting them right in the middle. Regardless, many Digi-Brawlers are single-minded and focused, typically never spending too long on dwelling after defeating a foe for fear of a moral compass developing and halting their progress. Some are shockingly pragmatic, with a "the weak lose, and the strong survive" approach to problems. At the end of the day, many Digi-Brawler Digimon is just those trying to improve themselves and reach their dream.

d8 Personality Trait
1 All I think about is my next challenge, and how I'll reach the goal of Digivolution.
2 I practice not for my pride or own ambition, but for self-improvement.
3 I stay cold and calculative with every decision, making sure I waste no movements as any mistake can be my last.
4 The strong survive and the weak are crushed under their boot--therefore, I have to be strong.
5 When I see a fight, my body moves before my mind can realize we've been thrown into battle.
6 I put my life on the line for everything I do, and fighting will be no exception.
7 I'm entranced by the different ways Digimon fight, and want to soak up as much as I can.
8 My one-track mind keeps me on the path toward Digivolution, and that path is to punch everything.
d6 Ideal
1 Protection. I was put into this world to fight and protect those that cannot protect themselves. (Good)
2 Devastation. The weak must die to feed me more power, a power I can use in ways they clearly aren't. (Evil)
3 Improvement. I take on any challenge with the hope it pushes me up a level and allows me to improve. (Neutral)
4 Egotistical. I'm stronger, I'm smarter, I'm better...I AM BETTER! (Chaotic)
5 My Master's Way. "A true Digi-Brawler doesn't fight to win; they fight to better themselves." My master told me, this is the only way to truly improve. (Neutral)
6 Yggdrasil Is All. Digi-Brawling is a sin, but to defeat this sin I must encompass it and undergo it, putting an ultimate end to it when I get strong enough. (Lawful)
d6 Bond
1 I owe everything to my master, as I wouldn't have gotten this far without them.
2 I was pushed into this field, not of my own volition.
3 I took up the lifestyle because I was too weak to prevent someone close to me from dying.
4 I started my training alone, and it fuels my will to grow.
5 My fights are my soul--and losing one breaks me, but it doesn't kill me.
6 Digivolution is the only thing I seek, and I won't let myself die until I see it!
d6 Flaw
1 I became a Digi-Brawler without realizing every last implication.
2 No one can know that my cowardness to stronger foes is the reason people close to me die.
3 I'm complacent with myself despite wanting to grow.
4 I think I'm better than everyone.
5 Sometimes I end up going too far for the sake of my improvement.
6 I'm frightened by the suffering of Digimon.
