Dementia[edit]

"Contracting" Dementia[edit]

Of course, you can't just contract this, however there are many ways you could get it.

1. You get too old (early 60s to late 90s)

2. This is casted on you... like a curse.

Effects[edit]

Stage 1: Here we experience the first signs of memory loss. This stage is most like a beautiful daydream. The glory of old age and recollection. The last of the great days. The victim will have troubles recalling complicated subjects this of course is determined by a percentile die with a 10% chance of forgetting, this is only appliable if the victim is trying to remember the following or close situations. The route to a certain room in a large building, trying to recall the name of someone they barely met, some words in a language (other than common) that they know and the order of which things go. (I.E the steps to making a potion or like stage 10 in a Simon says game... the color one not the other one). After 30 days, the infected creature progresses to the next stage.

Stage 2: The second stage is the self-realization and awareness that something is wrong with a refusal to accept that. This stage means the target is well aware something is off... but it isn't until stage three where things sink in. On stage 2 the chance of forgetting increases to 15% and this if only appliable if the victim is trying to remember the following or close situations. Remembering their way to a specific building in a relatively large town, how to use certain artisan tools (the more complex for example, one might not be able to just pick up a glassblower and go to town but thieves' tools seems straight forward) and minimal promises. After 30 days, the infected creature progresses to the next stage.

Stage 3: Here we are presented with some of the last coherent memories before confusion fully rolls in. This stage will alert the victim of the constant forgetting while the victim might not understand, anyone around them will. This stage will not only increase the forgetting percentage to 25% but also have a 5% chance of giving the victim Short-Term Madness (this is a one-time roll). The victim will now have a chance to forget the following. Where they placed a valuable object, material that they just read and events they planned. After 30 days, the infected creature progresses to the next stage.

Stage 4: Post-Awareness Stage 4 is where serenity and the ability to recall singular memories gives way to confusions and horror. at this stage of dementia, the victim will lose almost all thought, having troubles remembering the simplest things and overall be stuck in a state of utter confusion. Forgetting percentage gets a huge spike to 75% with a Long-Term Madness percentage of 20%. The victim will experience the following, loss of awareness of recent experiences as well as of their surroundings, show an increased tendency to wander and become lost. Last but not least, vivid and life like hallucinations of dead family, friends or allies that once fought with them. After 30 days, the infected creature progresses to the next stage.

Stage 5: Stage 5 being the final stage leads a cruel fate as the target will suffer brain death after a long-fought battle with this... horrible disease.
