Dead Steel

Prerequisites: Wisdom score of 12 or higher
You wield the weapon of a creature, person, or entity who has passed from the material plane, having learned to harness the ingrained memories of the weapon and residual essence of the previous wielder.

once per day you may spend two hours familiarizing yourself with the intricacies of one of these weapons, doing so grants you proficiency with that specific weapon, NOT the weapon type. additionally, this weapon gains the Dead Steel property and yours and the previous owners names (written in their native/first languages) are magically engraved onto the weapon in a place of your choosing.

Memoria Insita: When making an attack with a Dead Steel weapon, roll damage with one additional die for the weapons physical damage type (i.e. 2d6 piercing + 2d4 fire becomes 3d6 piercing + 2d4 fire). starting at level 12 you may instead choose to roll an additional damage die for one of the weapons magical damage types. (the additional die IS doubled during Critical hits just like normal dice)

when you roll to hit with a Dead Steel Weapon you may either invoke or curse the name of the weapons previous owner to gain one of the following benefits, this ability may be used a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus + the previous owners proficiency bonus.

- Invoke: gain +1 to this weapons attack rolls until the end of this turn

- Curse: this attack gains 2 extra damage dice from Memoria Insita instead of 1, additionally, this attack gets -2 to hit
