Cuniclosaurs are among the most abundant of thescelosaurs[1] of Kaimere, with at least seven genera and as many as 49 species found throughout the Known World and others reported beyond. Most of these are barely a meter long and weigh between five and ten kilograms, though the grukan is substantially larger. Despite this diversity, they generally all lead similar lives, being fossorial animals that dig complex burrows that live in colonies of related females and their mates. Most species are monogamous, which mate for life and the only difference between males and females is a slightly larger average size in the former, but some species form a harem troop of several females, in which these species have larger and often more brightly colored males that are more aggressive towards each other. Males of both species are aggressive towards intruders, though only at their burrows as in all other circumstances they prefer to flee. Though offspring can walk and feed themselves from hatching, they remain with their natal troop until maturity at the age of two. Cuniclosaurs are highly versatile in their diet, preferring ferns, flowers, and cycads with a supplement of roots but will eat any plant matter offered and readily snack on carrion, eggs and small game when they can. Though the overcoat is tough, the undercoat down interlocks well and is particularly dense and soft and prized for bedding and pillows, especially in the southern species such as the zaydi of the Free States and bekolt of Pakardia which have quite substantial down. A domesticated lineage of zaydi called the Durfel is bred to only grow an undercoat and the annual shedding of this down is a lucrative season indeed.
