Cosmology (Biscore-Zabbet Supplement)
From D&D Wiki
Biscore-Zabbet has a supposed unlimited amount of planets. The question becomes, how does one transport from one place to another? The answer; Portals.
What are Portals?[edit]
Portals are glowing white doorways, usually ranging from 4-8 feet in height, 2.5-4 feet in width, and usually 6 inches in length. Once a person gets close enough to a portal, they can slightly see within it to know where it leads. This distance is usually between 1-2 feet from it. Some portals are decorated with an exterior, but most are not. Portals can have a limited amount of uses, but specific ones (such as the North Zecris-Wissen portal) do not, and seem to never close.
Why did the Portals appear?[edit]
After the Great Bout and the Weave Tear, Portals were pretty quick to be found just about anywhere, not just on Biscore but everywhere within the universe. These kind of portals established something of a new science; Portology. Little has actually been found out about the nature of Portals, but they've learned the reasoning for their being is the tear of the weave has lead to tears in space, which lead to other points. They've also discovered the only thing that can transport through a portal is a living thing, including objects on a living thing's person.
What have Portals lead to?[edit]
Portals have established inter-planetary communication. This has allowed for trading information, resources, and even people. As well, adventurers can journey across many places with the power of Portals. This has made adventuring a full-fledged job in most cases, rather than just being a rare thing seen in only PCs and the rare NPC.
Downsides of Travelling[edit]
Of course, Portals do not have no downside. Only the mentally prepared can regularly pass through Portals without some kind of mental affliction. If you have an Intelligence modifier which isn't positive, the person must succeed a DC 13 Intelligence Saving Throw, or else suffer from some type of Short-Term Madness.
