Description[edit]

The M1911 is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, recoil-operated handgun chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge, which served as the standard-issue side arm for the United States armed forces from 1911 to 1985. It was widely used in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The M1911 is still carried by some U.S. forces. In total, the United States procured around 2.7 million M1911 and M1911A1 pistols in military contracts during its service life.

Game Rules[edit]

In the world of WWII, the Colt .45 is standard-issue for any American character, free of charge. For a character to qualify as 'American', the Nationality of that character must be United States of America - Note that Canada does not qualify one to be 'American' under this ruling, but for the purposes of simplicity, and also to reflect US arms being used by Canadian troops, any Canadian characters may be equipped with a M1911A1 for $50. British and other Allied characters must purchase a Colt .45 for the price indicated above. German and Allied characters from Axis countries must also pay the full price of $95.

The Colt .45 is recommended for most characters - it combines very good stopping power with reliability and a small weight. It is considerably cheaper than pistols such as the Webley revolver for UK characters or the German pistols for other nations. The Soviet pistols are cheaper still, but being Soviet, they tend not to be very accurate or reliable!
