Successful Leader (Optional Feature)[edit]

Many Failure features have a limit on how they are used and restored after a failure of some sort. These limitations are purely for flavor. You may ignore these limitations.

Helpful Leader[edit]

At 3rd level, you find it easy to convince people to follow your "good" plans. You can use the Help action as a bonus action. Additionally, when you use the Help action to aid an ally in attacking a creature, the target of that attack can be within 30 feet of you, rather than 5 feet of you, if the target can see or hear you.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you or a creature within 30 ft of you fails an attack roll.

Less Obvious Magic[edit]

At 3rd level, if no one can see you casting a spell, there would be a lower punishment for failing. Before you cast a spell, you may roll and expend a bardic die. If the result is 7 or below, your next spell has the subtle metamagic. If the result is 8 or 9, your next spell has the heighten or subtle metamagic. If the result is 10, your next spell gains subtle and heighten metamagic.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use this feature until you miss with a spell attack against a creature or a creature pass their saving throw against your spell.

Additionally, your cantrips do not require the somatic requirement.

Failure becomes Success[edit]

At 3rd level, as a leader you can turn a failure into a success when it matters. When a creature you can see within 60 feet of you fails an ability check, an attack roll, or a saving throw, you can use your reaction and a bardic die to grants the creature magical encouragement. The creature can roll the bardic die and add the number rolled to the total, potentially turning the failure into a success.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you fail an ability check, an attack roll, or a saving throw.

Plan C[edit]

At 6th level, you create or reuse plans when the current plan fails. When a creature adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its ability check, attack roll, or saving throw and the roll fails, you regain one use of Bardic Inspiration.

Heavy Brass (Optional Feature)[edit]

Replaces Plan C feature

At 6th level, your plans often fail and forcing you to join combat. Your weapon attacks deal an extra thunder damage equal to 2 rolls of your bardic die.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you or an ally misses their attack.

Disorienting Words (Optional Feature)[edit]

Replaces Plan C

At 6th level, you can cause your enemies to fail, just like your allies. When you cast Vicious Mockery cantrip, it gains the twin meta magic for free.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use this feature until you miss with a spell attack against a creature or a creature pass their saving throw against your spell.

Success through Failure[edit]

At 14th, you learn to use your failure to be successful in the future. When a creature within 60 feet of you adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its ability check, attack roll, or saving throw and the roll fails, you can use your reaction to encourage a different creature (other than yourself) that can hear you within 60 feet of you, giving it a Bardic Inspiration die without expending any of your Bardic Inspiration uses.

You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. Optional Feature: Successful Leader cannot remove this restriction.
