Celonii-Kin have evolved from a few breeds of turtle, much the same way many believe humans derived from apes. Their habitats vary, but more often than not, there is water nearby as they are amphibious reptiles as well as humanoid.
Physical Qualities[edit]
Chelonii-Kin are humanoid turtles. They are hairless with an aesthetic mix of human-like and turtlesque facial features not to exclude stiff beak-like lips, a full shell naturally grown upon their torso, normally a decent musculature ranging from athletic to ripped appendages. Their hands contain well formed fingers numbered two and a thumb each fully capable of a sturdy grip, and their wide heeled feet have two large toes fit well for balance. Color and markings of scaled flesh varies between the five breeds, the terrapin breed having two different types, assumedly due to evolution and adaptation to different habitats. • Leatherback- Their flesh and scales are more leathery than their cousins, and often brown, black, or a very dark green with no discernable markings. Leatherbacks are the largest of the chelonii-kin. • Woodland- Hard shells and rough scaled skin that are only marked by the bumps, scratches, and scars of their experiences in life and colored tan, light brown, or a forest green. • Terrapin(Sharp nosed)- Mottled- Their smooth shell darker than their rough scaled flesh, normally ranging from white with black spots and a medium tanned diamond marked shells to light grey with green/yellow spots and green and brown swirled shells. Painted (red eared slider)- These Terrapin are similar in shell style to the Mottled cousins, somewhat smooth and swirled designs litter their shells which are from dark green to a greenish brown. Their scaly flesh stripped between the colors of their shells with some red, orange, or yellow hints highlight the stripes, but much more pronounced near their hollow audits. • Box Chelonii- Plain brown to dark green and greenish brown, these are the bulkiest appearing of the chelonii-kin yet also the smallest. Their shells ranging from plain to decorated with marbled patterns of the common colors of it’s kind with plain flat colored flesh. • Snapper- The second largest of it’s cousins, and perhaps the scariest, Snappers have muddy brown or dirty looking greenish brown shells and scaley flesh. Their flesh a bit rougher than the rest and their shells serrated around the edges with bumps and spikey protrusions riddling their shells. Their beak lips tend to look the sharpest and more powerful than the others, and such looks in the Snapper’s case do not deceive.
Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]
Steady as she goes, this is the common way of these turtle folk. They are very smart, patient, and take pride in these things over their also quite adept strength. Varying in a few basic breeds, having been mentioned, they are mostly a humble race, however their demeanor does differ from one to the next. The most docile and easy going are the Leatherbacks, Woodland, and Box variations. Box Chelonii moreso than the others and will most likely choose flight over fight. The Terrapin are sometimes easy going, but not quite docile, they are territorial and will display a mild mannered temperament when encroached upon. If they feel wronged by another, the desire for and act of revenge isn’t entirely uncommon. Lastly, the Snappers just as they appear are gruff and a bit rough around the edges. Occasionally they can me well mannered and peacable, but mostly they are aggressive. Snappers love to fight and quarrel, even if for simple sport with no bad feelings intended. They, like their cousins who enjoy seeing new places and treasure seeking, can make good adventurers but moreso than the rest they relish in glory and bloodshed.
Roleplaying a Chelonii-Kin[edit]
Chelonii-Kin Characteristics: You are of an intelligent and wise bloodline, who tends mostly toward peaceful and humble (or quite the opposite as a Snapper), but does not fear defending oneself, friends, family, or party members with your striker or arcana classes. Most effectively perhaps with the striker classes though. You know through nature the ways of the world, and can at times be quite intuitive. They are not always slow, but to them slow is smart. Collected and ready for nearly whatever may come.
Chelonii-Kin Male Names: Merle, Chunk, Crag, Gorg
