Cautious Ki

Prerequisites: Wisdom 13 or Higher
Many observers and practitioners of the martial arts mistake their purpose as offensive. You understand that while attacking might be necessary, the primary goal of the techniques is the defense of one’s self and others.

  • Your ki point maximum increases by 1. If you have no levels in monk, your ki points will recharge whenever you complete a short or long rest.
  • You may cast the Blade Ward cantrip. You may expend 1-3 ki to turn 1-3 of the resistances into immunities, respectively.
  • You may expend 1 ki point to cast the spell Heroism. You may expend 1 additional ki point to gain advantage on all concentration saving throws while maintaining it. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability score.
  • You may expend 1 ki point to cast the spell Shield. You may expend 1 additional ki point to gain an additional +5 AC.

In addition, you may manifest your mastery over protection in more minor ways:

  • After you take damage from an enemy, gain +1 AC until the end of the round.
  • When reduced to 0 hit points, gain temporary hit points equal to a tenth of your hit point maximum. May only occur once per long rest.
  • When you use the Ready action, gain +2 AC until your next turn.
