Recitations[edit]

Recitations are much like Utterances and are spoken by Truenamers. They require proper pronunciation, follow the Laws of the Universe and only use verbal components. However, they cost an action due to the constant repetition required, require concentration, and do not invoke saving throws.

Recitations must obey all Laws of the Universe.

Speaking a Recitation[edit]

You may speak a Recitation as an action if you know the target's Personal Truename as long as you are not already speaking. All Recitations require concentration and do not require saving throws.

Speaking a Recitation
Make an Arcana check to determine if you pronounced the target's Personal Truename correctly using their Intelligence score +5 as the DC. If you fail this check, your Utterance also fails.
Recitation of the Fortified State For 1 round grant 1/3 of the speaker's Truenamer levels as a bonus or penalty AC. If the target uses a dodge or ready action on their turn, extend the effect for an additional round, up to 1 minute.
Recitation of the Meditative State Remove fear and controlling effects, or gain Frightened and Vulnerability to psychic damage.
Recitation of the Mindful State Gain a bonus equal to your Int modifier to the next skill check/save, or gain -INT to the next skill check/save.
Recitation of the Sanguine State Remove the poisoned condition and gain Immunity to poison for your Int modifier rounds or become poisoned and take 1d6 poison damage per round for your Int modifier rounds (CON save negates this damage).
Recitation of the Vital State Remove a disease and gain Immunity to diseases for your Int modifier rounds or gain -4 Constitution for your Int modifier rounds (this reduces their maximum hit point pool before affecting their current hit points, if a creature is brought to 0 hit points during this time and the effect ends they are still at 0 hit points but their normal maximum hit point pool is restored).
