Caster Shells[edit]

A caster shell is a projectile used with the Caster Gun that produces a magical effect when it strikes a creature or object. A caster shell can only be used once, and it is destroyed on impact.

Physical Description

A caster shell is a metal or ceramic tube, about 1 inch in diameter and 3 inches long. It has AC 13, 1 hit point, hardness 1 and a break DC of 12.

Activation

The spell stored inside a caster shell takes effect when it is fired as a projectile from a Caster Gun and the attack hits its target. No special skill is required for the spell to activate, and firing the gun involves all the normal rules for attacking with a ranged weapon.

The person who fired the shell is the effective caster, and the creature or object struck by the shell is the target. Spells that have an area of effect use the target as their origin.

Creation

Creating caster shells requires the Craft Caster Shell feat. The base price of a caster shell is its spell level × its caster level × 50 gp. To craft a caster shell, you must spend 1/25 of this base price in XP and use up raw materials costing one half this base price.

Caster Shell Descriptions[edit]

The caster level for a caster shell is the minimum caster level needed to cast the spell (unless otherwise specified).
