Buwan Aswang (5e Creature)
Buwan Aswang[edit]
Large undead, neutral evil Armor Class 15 (natural armor)
Skills Athletics +9, Perception +7, Stealth +9 Spider Climb. The aswang can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check. Aswang Weaknesses. The aswang has the following flaws: ACTIONSMultiattack. The aswang makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws. It can use its Drop in place of its two claw attacks. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) necrotic damage. The target's hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken, and the aswang regains hit points equal to that amount. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0. Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage. Instead of dealing damage, the aswang can grapple the target (escape DC 16). If the grappled target is Medium or smaller, the aswang can still fly. Drop. One Medium or smaller object held or creature grappled by the aswang is dropped from the sky and knocked prone. If a dropped target strikes a solid surface, the target takes 3 (1d6) bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet it falls (to a maximum of 6d6). If the target is dropped at another creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 11 Dexterity saving throw or take the same damage and be knocked prone.

The buwan aswang are the leaders of the aswang packs and other yokai and bakemono are drawn to these large bat terrors that descend from the sky to rend and maim with their vicious claws and savage bites. The buwan aswang look similar to a large gargoyle but with the face of a werebat, they have great bat ears for picking up echolocation and they can quickly drop down from the sky and assault their prey or easily abduct them back into the night sky once again. They stand at seven to eight feet tall, and have the same skin and fur as the aswang such as dark purple, brown or black, but albino ones are especially terrifying. Buwan aswang sometimes like to pick up shikki-gaki and drop them right on top of enemies in armor. This generally instantly kills the shikki-gaki and the people near it because of the force the shikki-gaki hitting the ground and the cloud of poison spores the walking corpse produces in its death throes. The buwan aswang hate certain noises like temple bells, gongs and conchs played as instruments. These noises drive away the beast in quick order. |
