Brand of the Hexblood (5e Feat)
From D&D Wiki
Brand of the Hexblood
Prerequisites: Blood Hunter Level 6 and Brand of Castigation known
With the knowledge and practice of using your Blood Magic, you have empowered your branding capabilities to mimic that of the spell Hex, essentially cursing your target with the tainted blood of your Order.
- Instead of the single use per short/long you can now use your Brand of Castigation 1 + half (rounded down) your proficiency bonus (maximum of 4 uses). Regain all uses upon a short/long rest.
- The empowerment of your brand can come with a cost. Upon branding a creature, you may take damage equal to one roll of your Hemocraft Die. Doing so you provide your own blood to taint the lifeforce of the creature you've branded. Anytime you deal physical damage (bludgeoning, slashing, piercing) to the branded creature, it's blood convulses violently where hit, dealing additional damage equal to your Hemocraft Die for each hit made. (The creature must have blood in order for this affect to take place).
- Upon slaying a branded creature, you can use your reaction to transfer your brand to another creature within 60ft. You must reroll your Hemocraft Die and take damage equal to the roll again in order to have the additional damage, otherwise the brand is considered a normal brand with the original effects in place only. (If you choose not to use your reaction this way, or if there is no applicable creature in range then the brand is done and you must use another use to reapply).
- Your brand creates a bond between you and the afflicted creature. As a bonus action you may magically teleport up to 30ft into a space within 5ft of the branded creature that you can see. You may only use this form of movement once per creature branded and a maximum of half your Hemocraft Modifier (rounded up) per long rest.
I based this feature loosely off of the feature "Fey Touched". I dropped the ASI it grants, Misty Step replaced by a limited use version, and the 1st Lv spell choice is essentially a Blood Hunter version of "Hex" with a risk/reward element in place.
