Black mages are spellcasters who focus on the destructive aspects of the arcane. They eschew almost all forms of utility magic and the broader applications of evocation in favor of obliterating their foes with fire, ice and lightning. Hellish Heat. Through decades of study and intense training a black mage learns to intensify her fire magic. The flames she conjures are hotter than normal and more difficult to quench, allowing her to reduce all but the hardiest of foes to cinders. Thermoregulation. A black mage is no mere pyromaniac. She masters a variety of spells that can kill with ice as well. Beyond freezing enemies to death, these spells serve a secondary purpose of cooling her off after the immense heat buildup of her fire spells, helping her to conserve her magical energies. In a protracted fight, a skilled black mage will alternate between fire spells and ice spells to maximize the number of spells she can cast overall. |
