Beam Sabre (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Beam Sabre:
The Beam Sabre appears to be nothing more than a sword hilt, until activated. Then, a burning blade of superheated plasma springs forth, dealing 1d8+1 fire damage with 18-20/x2 critical. It is used identically to a scimitar and requires no proficiency, though any feats which apply to scimitar also apply to the Beam Sabre. All melee attacks made with this blade are touch attacks, and spell resistance applies to each blow.
Unique among wondrous items, the Beam Sabre's hilt can be enchanted as if a weapon of its own. As such you may possess a Keen Wounding Beam Sabre +1, and the like. The Beam Sabre is considered a finessable one-handed weapon, and a small dagger sized weapon for the purposes of concealing. It is considered masterwork, but otherwise not enchanted in its most basic form.
The blade lasts for 3 minutes before it is snuffed out, and takes a standard action to activate. The constant version may be extended or retracted as a free action, with no duration to how long the blade may last.
