Weapon (longsword greatsword rapier), legendary (requires attunement)

This blade is an imitation of the sword of a beyond ancient and and forgotten god-king from the age before Mystal took control of the weave. Part of its energy was a magic gem contained in the pommel that hosts a gestalt being composed of thousands of souls of mighty warriors and mages, and weave energy at in it's rawest and most potent form. The sword will make a contract with an individual it considers a worthy wielder. A worthy wielder must have clearly defined but ambitious goals focused on gaining in strength and power, but not for simple minded slaughter. It is a warrior's sword, not the sword of a brute or a thug.

On making a contract with the weapon, the wielder will gain one level of Hexblade warlock. The wielder must select Pact of the Blade at Warlock level 3, and this sword must be the Pact weapon. Attempting to switch to another weapon as the warlock's pact blade will constitute a breach of contract and there will be significant consequences.

The sword will unlock more of its power as the wielder grows in strength and continues to improve themselves and starts off at Phase 1 with appropriate stats for it's weapon type, though it is half the weight of a normal weapon of it's type.

Phase 1: +1 Magical Weapon

Perfect Match: The war blade will take the form most suited to the wielder, a great sword or long sword, or with much mockery of the wielder, a rapier. It will not take the form of a short sword or dagger, saying it is the weapon of a warrior, not a sneak thief or assassin. It will also not take the form of a weapon that isn't a sword, considering these other weapons lesser and demeaning to it. It is noticeably lighter than other weapons of its type, but is significantly sharper and more durable, a nod to the unique metals used in forging the blade.

Phase 2: +2 Sword

Spell shifter: The sword can now take a second gem stone in its pommel. The gems that fit are rare and powerful magical artifacts in their own right, and empower the blade as a flame tongue or frost brand weapon, following the rules with the same to add to the sword's slashing damage. At the DM's discretion, flame tongue or frost brand could potentially be reflavored to other elemental damage types.

Phase 3: +3 Weapon

The sword's potential is fully unlocked, likely as part of a quest.

It advances to a +3 Weapon, and gains an extra +1 damage for +3 to hit/+4 damage.

Spellbreaker: The power of the sword allows the wielder to use counterspell once a day by unleashing the sword's true potential in a minute amount to destabilize the weave in the surrounding area.
Sentience. The large gem in pommel of this blade contains a gestalt entity being composed of thousands of souls of mighty warriors and mages, and weave energy at in it's rawest and most potent form. This sword is sentient and can telepathically communicate regardless of language. It only rarely communicates with the wielder, warning if it believes the wielder is becoming weak, or otherwise heading towards a potential breach of contract. Occasionally it will try to influence the wielder, and the wielder must resist with a Wisdom saving throw. This will especially happen if the wielder regularly seeks to avoid conflict by underhanded means, as opposed to forcing their opponents to submit without fighting with their prestige, power and influence, which is perfectly fine.
Personality. The gestalt entity within the sword is Lawful Neutral but will serve any master with appropriate grand goals and the strength to make it worth the sword's while.
