Instead of causing damage, you can try to hook a target with size Large or lower with the whip on a hit. A hooked target is grappled, and take 1d4 points of piercing damage in each turn it ends grappled. A creature can use its action to make a DC 10 Strength or Dexterity check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success.
