Sorcerer Subclass
Your innate magical powers come from banshees, the undead spirits of female elves. Perhaps you were attacked by a banshee and survived, or you were cursed to become one only to gain their power instead. Now the undead magic of these spiteful entities resides in your soul and flows through your veins, giving you unsettling new powers.
- Unsettling Soul
When you choose this sorcerous origin at 1st level, your body has somewhat adapted to the undead magic in your body. You gain resistance to necrotic damage and proficiency in Intimidation if you didn't have it already.
- Banshee Scream
Additionally at 1st level, you gain a banshee's power to strike fear in the hearts of others. As an action, you can unleash an ear-piercing wail, forcing all creatures within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature takes 2d6 psychic damage and is frightened by you for 1 minute. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage, is not frightened, and is immune to the effects of your Banshee Scream for 24 hours. A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the beginning of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 10th level, 5d6 at 14th level, and 6d6 at 18th level. You must complete a short or long rest before doing this again.
- Decaying Touch
At 6th level, you can coat your hands in necrotic energy, and funnel it through your weapons. As a bonus action, you can spend 3 sorcery point to roll one additional weapon damage die for one minute. The damage type is necrotic, and the amount of dice increases to two additional die at 10th level, three at 14th level, and four at 18th level.
- Horrible Visage
At 14th level, you have learned how to tap into your power and transform into a banshee. As an action, you can expend 5 sorcery points to transform yourself into a vengeful spirit, gaining the following benefits for one minute:
- You are immune to necrotic damage and resistant to poison and cold damage.
- You gain a flying(hover) speed equal to your walking speed.
- You gain darkvision for 60 feet.
- You can move through other creatures or objects as if they were difficult terrain. If you end your turn inside an object, you take 1d10 force damage and are pushed into the nearest unoccupied space.
- When you transform, you can force all creatures within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature is frightened of you for 1 minute. A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if you are within line of sight, ending the effect on itself on a success. On a success, the creature is not frightened and is immune to being frightened by this feature for 24 hours.
- Undead Soul
At 18th level, your body has been warped and changed by your undead magic. You gain the following benefits:
- You no longer need to eat, drink, sleep, or breathe to survive.
- You have resistance to poison damage and have advantage on saving throws against disease.
- You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
- The range for your Banshee Scream feature and initial effect of your Horrible Visage feature extend to 60 feet.
