Avenia is the third child of Order and Chaos, and the inspiration for the creation of the ground, the earth. Avenia is generally a calm presence, and rarely interacts with mortals or even other gods. Avenia is known mainly for her kindness and gentle heart, although when she is angered, her wrath is unparalleled. Should you anger Avenia, your crops will wither, your land will turn inhospitable, your forges shall die. Should you have her blessing, however, you will experience the true wealth of the land. Avenia is particularly angered by men laying claim to land owned by another unfairly. If land is not earned through hard work or service, Avenia will lay a curse on the land, casting a blight on the very earth. One story about this, however, also explains her dislike of Vavana. When men first discovered war, they began taking land from one another. Avenia, seeing them unfairly laying claim to another’s land, cursed a massive swath of earth, resulting in the death of thousands. Vavana stepped forward, however, claiming that the land had been fairly claimed. The ones who had worked it before were not strong enough to defend it, and were not worthy of it. Avenia disagreed, but the rest of the gods took Vavana’s side and forced the goddess to lift her curse, and to change her ways. Ever since then, Avenia has strongly disliked Vavana, and has also become somewhat reclusive overall, slumbering in the earth a great deal of the time. Outside of a few stories, Avenia is not commonly mentioned throughout mythology, generally working through others and keeping to herself. She has no divine weapon to speak of, and has only ever entered combat herself once before- against Order and Chaos. She generally leaves the fighting to her children and elementals.

Avenia is the goddess of the earth, but also of life, health, and nature. It is her energy that warms the earth and allows crops to grow, and civilizations to flourish. She is also the goddess of the four seasons, but generally delegates those duties onto her four ascended children, Summer, Winter, Spring, and Autumn.

Avenia generally appears as a massive tree, her leaves bearing every form of life, both plant and animal, as well as carrying representations of each of the seasons. In her trunk is a human face, but her eyes are perpetually closed, and she lives in a near-constant state of slumber. When she awakens, however, her eyes glow with the fire of the earth’s core.
