Aurochs (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Aurochs[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
The moon cows are very large humanoids mammals with horned cow heads, thick skin. They have cloven hooved feet, and three large fingers on each hand. Tall and stout, they take up a lot of space.
History[edit]
Despite their strong ties to nature, Aurochs began as the creation of a powerful wizard in a time forgotten by the world. In the beginning they were all Daylights by design, but a fluke led to the birth of the first Eclipse who was able to lead the first tribe to their freedom. The wild around them led to the Moonlight caste who harvested the plants to feed them. Since their escape the Aurochs have expanded across the plains around the world. Though the wizard never mounted a real attempt to capture the escapees, they still find it hard to trust mages.
Society[edit]
Aurochs live in small tribes, between 20, and 50 members each. All members of a tribe are sorted into a castes based on the position of the moon at the time of their birth. The Daylight castes are the defenders of the tribes, the sun's fire fills them with rage. The Moonlight castes gather and prepare food, they also take on the roles of healers and caregivers. Twilight castes are diplomats to outsiders, and other tribes, they lead tribes without an Eclipse. The Eclipse castes are the leaders, their rarity sets them apart, they have a limited ability to see into the future, making them ideal guides to the tribes.
