Augmented Soldier[edit]

Those who volunteer for these procedures will sacrifice much, but they will receive a substantial increase in combat effectiveness.
—Dr. Raymond Shen, XCOM: Enemy Within

Physical Description[edit]

Augmented soldiers are the same height as the average human, but thinner and they weigh less. Their bodies are made of metal, all except their heads. Many of these soldiers wear clothes that hide their augmentations, not out of shame, but so that they won't freak out those around them. Their voices become more robotic, monotone, kind of autotuned, as if something was overlapping their speech.

History[edit]

Augmented soldiers are designed to interface with technology and understand it better. These troops are most of the time found trying to decipher alien technology or wearing high-powered suits of armor with huge guns. They are governed by a mechanical mind, made only for understanding directives and completing objectives.

Society[edit]

When a lot of these soldiers come together, most likely in a bar or tavern, they trade stories of battle, glorious victories and not-so-glorious failures. A couple of times, you could get one to recall the tale of how they became augmented. Because a lot of these soldiers cover their augmentations, they are able to join into pretty much any society that allows the race they started as before they became augmented, especially if they leave their heavy armor at home. If they don't, however, and enlist in the local militia, they may be integrated into the society faster.

Augmented Soldier Names[edit]

Almost every time, augmented soldiers take the names that they were born with. Be that name John, Jorick, maybe even Mxyzptlk. On very rare circumstances, they simply take designations instead.
