The Goddess Astrild is the creator of life and to some extent is revered by nearly every living thing on Moertus. She brought light and fire into the universe, and it is she who placed the sun in the sky. Astrild is both worshiped as a Goddess of love and passion, and as a matronly figure who will fight to protect her children. She is always depicted as a scantily clad voluptuous young woman, who holds a silver longsword in her right hand.
Dogma[edit]
Astrild promotes health, happiness and peace among all living things, and she expects those that worship her to do the same. Although a lover and not a fighter Astrild does have a motherly temper when it comes to defending her followers from evil, and destruction, and she calls upon those faithful to her to do the same when they see evil causing suffering or harm to good folk. Her chosen colors are White and Golden Yellow.
Clergy and Temples[edit]
The formal church of Astrild is a very huge and structured entity. While small shrines and temples devoted to Astrild can be found almost anywhere, The majority of her Churches are large structures replete with numerous statues of the Goddess, and large formal altar spaces that can hold large numbers of the faithful. The hierarchy of the Church is very similar to that of the Catholic religion here on Earth. Most places that worship Astrild as their Patron Goddess will also be controlled politically by the Church. The Clergy of Astrild think of all life as their children, and have a sacred duty to protect them and to insure that all flourish together. With the help of the Church of Astrild many people have found new hope, and an unquestioning hand of aid.
Holy Days[edit]
Services are held every morning for Astrild, but 7th Day of every week is set aside for mass formal services that all worshippers attend.
