Stub Logo.png This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: A round shield made of wood reinforced with metal sounds a lot like a normal shield. Why would a certain shield teach you a particular stance (such a thing is usually a fighting style or maybe subclass feature). Any shield can be used to bash (see improvised weapons).

Cost Armor Class (AC) Strength Stealth Weight
60 gp +2 Str 11 16 lb.

A aspis shield is crafted by wood with a metal rim. It is secured to the wrist with two straps allowing the hand to be free to hold spears, and other polearms.

Trenched In. While holding this shield, if you did not move, attack, or cast a spell during your turn, at the end of your turn you may go into a defensive stance. You stay in this defensive stance until the start of your next turn, hiding yourself behind your shield. While in this stance, you are treated as having half cover.

Bash. You can use this shield as a makeshift weapon, which you can use to bash your foes. If you hit a target with this shield, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier.
