On the distant planet of Kaimere, the native Kaimerans share the same love of dogs as humans do, although they independently domesticated their dogs: the first Kaimerans to domesticate dogs were the Khalin of the Southern Islands, where the local wolves are of even temperament and much more omnivorous than the ferocious pack hunters most would think of with wolves. From there, the Khalin brought their dogs wherever they sailed and all Kaimeran dog breeds are descended at least partially from Khalin dogs.
While the Arvelith beyond the Celestial Wall of Qajar are not open to outsiders, one of their dog breeds has proven to have utility invaluable to most of the Known World: the Sloth Hound. These low-slung dogs are similar to a mix between a dachshund and a Labrador retriever, and are proficient burrowers with their short legs letting them crawl into holes much smaller than other dogs of similar size would be able to squeeze into. This allows them to to enter the dens of sloths, thescelosaurs, and dire weasels, as well as making them excellent guards against the smaller sloths that are known to burrow under settlement walls and raid pantries.
