Armor Class as Dodge and Toughness Class (5e Variant Rule)
From D&D Wiki
Armor Class as Dodge and Toughness Class[edit]
Instead of having a Armor Class (AC), you have a Dodge Class (DC) and a Toughness Class (TC).
If a creature makes an attack roll against you and the result is..
- .. lower than your DC, the attack misses.
- .. equal to your DC, the attack misses and you drop your shield if you carry one.
- .. greater than your DC, but equal to or lower than your TC, you only take half of the damage from the attack, or only a third of the damage if you wear heavy armor.
DC and TC are calculated as follows:
Armor | DC | TC |
