Ardan Uruks (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Ardan Uruks[edit]
“ | A beastly race of creatures hailing from Arda, these "Uruks" are strong and proud, but savage and vicious nonetheless. | ” |
Physical Description[edit]
These creatures usually have a hunched over demeanor and are usually a bit shorter than humans, often reaching about 5'4 or 5'6, though there are outliers who reach the height of humans or even slightly taller than the average one. They are usually dark in skin tone, often a muddy dark brown or grey, though on occasion pale whites and more tame shades of green are possible. They often lack facial hair, but usually have long greasy hair on their heads, only occasionally styled into knots, but usually just shaved if not. They vary greatly in build, from scrawny and lean, strong and bulky, or quite wide, but regardless all possess strength and agility greater than that of humans. They usually possess dirty and unkempt teeth, some having no teeth at all and what little they have vary greatly, some orcs have all canines and some have nothing but molars. Uruk-Hai are similar but can reach and often surpass the heights of humans, they do not suffer from sun sickness and are usually tougher than the other orcs. Ardan Goblins are smaller, usually about 4'10 or 5'2 but are more agile and cunning.
History[edit]
Orcs and their subspecies have the same, but somewhat clouded history, no one knows how they came into being but many theorize, some believe that the first dark god of the orcs, Morgoth, created them as a mockery to the elves, and some believe Morgoth could never create life and that the orcs were born through continuous and horrible torture of elves over generations, others believe they simply were not created, but are just sentient beasts. Uruks have a slightly less clouded history, they were originally created by a dark wizard, how is somewhat unknown, some believe they were crossbred between orcs and wild men, and others that they were the result of dark magics being used on the orcs. Goblins are simple, they are merely an off shoot of the orcs who came into being by survival.
Society[edit]
Orcs, uruks, and Ardan Goblins share the same society. It is a brutal and unforgiving hierarchy based primarily on strength and battle prowess, the only intellect that is greatly valued is that of a gran general. The secondary traits that are desired is that of craftsman who can forge weapons and armor for the orcs. However it is important to not that the orcs have never been able to truly form a society of their own, as they have always been in servitude to some hyper powerful being. The orcs however are quite eager to serve those more powerful than them, in order to secure protection and structure, as well as the spoils of wicked deeds.
Ardan Orcs Names[edit]
Female orcs share the names of males, but the names vary from sub race to the other. Usually their names are either in deep speech or are very simple words in common. Keep in mind almost any orc name should not be considered exclusive to orcs, as uruks and goblins will also be given these names sometimes. All orcs are naturally rather confident, and it is worth noting that when they are of reputation, or when they feel like it, they will often give themselves a title, these titles usually reflect themselves such as "The Huge", "The Dark", or "The Immortal"
