What is Sylfaen?[edit]

The world of Sylfaen is a typical high fantasy medieval setting, a world similar to our own, with some key particularities, that are:

Dragons are dead but their power still remains, through the use of dragon bones. Dragon bones can absorb magical power, and can be used to enhance the power of spellcasters and to fuel arcane technology, and it was a key substance, used to shape the fate of the world.

Anachronistic technology is possible due to the existence of dragon bone dust, called Animarum, that it is used to fuel arcane marvels, such as teleportation gates, automatons, magically fueled battleships and arcane canons. These technologies exist side by side with ironclad knights, castles and usual medieval parafernalia due to the existence off...

Zones of dead magic spread through the world. In some places, arcane magic just doesn't work, usually around places were strange stone pillars stand, erected by a forgotten and ancient humanoid race, that is now extinct.

Total war is imminent in the current age, with the mighty Tyrian Empire being threatened by externally by enemies, and internally by betrayers and the resurgence of the demonic cults. Although internally, the imperial citizens enjoy a certain level of peace, the stability of the empire is on the edge.
