About[edit]

What if the Indians were Elves, and drove the white men back into the sea?

And yet human settlements survive in the Appalachian mountains.

Appalachia is a light fantasy setting including gentle humor about various groups and stereotypes of Indians, Yankees, the deep south, American and Appalachian mountain culture.

Campaign Design and Groups[edit]

Appalachia is rife with stereotypes of groups, so if you are politically correct, you are not going to enjoy this campaign.

  • None-the-less try to avoid egregious racism when running and playing this campaign. The humans are under attack from all sides and so they tend to band together and care much less about skin color than humans in our world do.
  • Also please avoid anti-semitism.
  • Appalachia is designed to be a somewhat humorous campaign, so stereotypes of groups are allowed, but please be gentle with them.
  • Since the material is non-politically correct, even non-PC people may get offended at certain times. Please include an object in the center of the table that any player can reach if a stereotype bothers them significantly. Then probably back away from the stereotype and do something else.

Appalachia is not entirely non-PC. After all, the Indians win.

Appalachia[edit]

This can be an elven centered campaign where the enemies are humans, or a human centered campaign where the enemies are elves.

The humans have built forts, castles, stockades, defenses, and walled towns throughout the Appalachian mountains. Dwarves tend to ally with humans. Gnomes and halflings tend to be neutral. Drow tend to ally with Indians.

Half-elves are never to be trusted

Human Appalachian Centered Campaign[edit]

The humans are the good guys, and the Elven Indians are the bad guys. The PCs can be any standard race except elves or Rock Trow (drow). Humans are very common. Half-elves, halflings, dwarves, gnomes will also not be uncommon.

The humans are under attack from all sides and so they tend to band together and care much less about skin color than humans in our world do. The humans are the underdogs and continual skirmishes in both directions happen along the borders of the Appalachian homeland.

Elven Indian Centered Campaign[edit]

The Elven Indians are the good guys, and the human invaders are the bad guys. The PCs can be any standard race except humans. Wood Elven Indians are very common. Half-elves, halflings, gnomes, Rock Trow (drow), half-orcs will also not be uncommon.

The Elven Indians have retaken all of the coasts of North America excepting the cities of Boston, New York (Gnome York), and the cities of their allies New Orleans, and Montreal. The most warlike of the Indians have invaded Europe, and have freed the Celtic lands with which they are allies, and have made serious inroads in France and Iberia.
