Aasimar, Non-Human Variant (5e Race Variant)
From D&D Wiki
Aasimar, Non-Human Variant[edit]
In their lore, aasimar are specifically stated as the descendants of humans. This variant will let you create an aasimar character that isn't god-touched human; an aasimar should be a god-touched anything.
Gained and Lost Traits[edit]
Below is a list of races that are eligible to be aasimar. Some are excluded from the list (tieflings and warforged, for example, since tieflings are devilish by nature and warforged aren't truly born or living).
- ASI
- By default, an aasimar will have a Charisma increase of 2. Depending on the race, an aasimar will have an additional ASI. You cannot receive an ASI from your aasimar subrace; only its trait.
- Gained Traits
- SRD aasimar traits and non-human racial traits that the non-human aasimar will gain.
- Lost Traits
- SRD aasimar traits that the non-human aasimar won't have. Size and speed reductions are also accounted for here. Light will replace certain cantrips. Damage resistances from the non-human race will replace the aasimar's resistance to necrotic damage. As a general rule, races with natural armor should only have resistance to radiant damage. Darkvision is accounted for here, if both races have it.
Eligible Aasimar Races[edit]
No matter the race, an aasimar is still eligible for all 3 subraces (protector, scourge, fallen). An aasimar cannot benefit from subraces from its non-human race; only aasimar subraces.
