Keen Hearing and Sight. The wryback has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or sight.

Insistent Prying. The wrayback can open any nonmagical stuck or locked wooden door or container after 1 minute of prying.

Adaptive Breathing. When exposed to unbreathable or hazardous gas, the wryback can feign death. While in this state, it is blinded and incapacitated and its speed drops to 0; it does not breathe; it appears dead to all outward inspection; and it does not suffer the effects of poison or disease. This state ends when the wryback is able to safely breathe again.
In addition, in a Spelljammer campaign, wrybacks do not count when calculating a ship's air bubble.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The wryback makes two claw attacks.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 6 (1d4 + 4) slashing damage.

Wrybacks are small humanoids with rubbery bodies and limbs. They have dark grey skins with squat heads, bulging cat-like eyes, vertical nostril slits, and wide mouths filled with curved, needle-like teeth. Their eyes dimly glow an oily blue or sickly green color. Their ape-like limbs are twisted, and each hand has three fingers with sharp ivory claws. Their feet have four prehensile toes, and are softly padded. They can move by walking, running on all fours, or brachiating.
Wrybacks are malicious little humanoid creatures that live by scavenging and stealing. Their boneless, gristly limbs let them run and climb in silence. Although wrybacks can manipulate objects with all four appendages, the feet usually are used for delicate tasks. They can work their way into the slightest of cracks in a door's fittings, inevitably prying it open.
In combat, wrybacks fight with their claws, but they prefer stealth and backbiting to direct attack. Their rubbery body is quite resistant to blunt attacks and falls.
Wrybacks can be found infesting places in small groups, stowing away in ship's cargo holds or rigging, granaries, warehouses, dungeons, ruins, sewers, and anywhere else that might attract vermin.
The wrybacks' home system is unknown, but their habit of stowing away on spelljammers has enabled them to spread to almost every system that supports life.
Wrybacks reproduce by budding. A pregnant female carries warts on her back for about 10 weeks, when they erupt into tiny, fully formed wrybacks. These reach maturity in about eight weeks. Wrybacks live 25 to 30 years.
