Way of the Mentor

After years of study a monk decides to venture out into the world and share their insight and abilities with the world.

This is an subclass for the Monk class.

Ki Channel

In following the way of the mentor you strive to guide the actions of others by infusing them with ki. To do so, you use a bonus action on your turn to touch one creature other than yourself within reach and spend 1 ki point to channel ki into them. That creature gains one Ki Channel die, a d6. Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Ki Channel die, but must decide before the GM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Ki Channel die is rolled, it is lost. A creature can have only one Ki Channel die at a time. Your Channel die changes when you reach certain levels. The die becomes a d8 at 9th level, and a d10 at 15th level.

Practical Wisdom Also at the 3rd level, you learn the *Guidance* cantrip. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Ranged Channel

At the 6th level, you learn how to channel Ki at range. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can spend 2 ki points and use your reaction to use Instant Channel, rolling a Channel die and adding the number rolled from the creature's roll. You can choose to use this feature after the creature makes its roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before the creature deals its damage. The creature is immune if it's immune to being charmed.

Ki Impair

Also at 6th level, you learn how to use Ki Channel to impair others. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can spend 2 ki points and use your reaction to use Ki Impair, rolling a Channel die and subtracting the number rolled from the creature's roll. You can choose to use this feature after the creature makes its roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before the creature deals its damage. The creature is immune if it's immune to being charmed.

Healing Guidance

At the 11th level, you gain the ability to use your abilitys of channeling Ki to heal others. When you channel Ki into another creature you can heal them for 1d8 + your Wisdom modifier.

Also at the 11th level, you can use Ranged Channel by only spending 1 Ki point.

Learning From Your Own Lessons

At the 17th level, you learn how to channel your Ki into yourself. When you make an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can spend 2 ki points to roll a Channel die and add the number rolled to your original roll. You can choose to use this feature after you make the roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before you deal damage.
