Balance[edit]
This race seems inherently overpowered. Any one of the following on its own would arguably make the race too powerful, let alone combining all of them together and adding useful racial features on top of thaem:
- A total ASI of +7 (with a whopping +3 to the best ability score in the game) or +6. Meanwhile anything except human's mediocre "+1 to everything" is either +2/+1 or +2/+2.
- Unrestricted flying speed of 45 feet from 1st level is widely considered the most powerful racial ability on an official race, let alone something that's as powerful as this.
- Not just proficiency but advantage on all Athletics checks. Grapple everything forever.
- For the natural attack, it might be better phrased as the following: "You can make a bite attack, a special kind of unarmed strike, that inflicts piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier." As it currently reads it sounds like faerie elf monks can get 2d4 or more damage per turn on top of already considerable damage.
The subrace features are all similarly overpowered.
- Suffice to say "+2 AC all the time" or "+2 to damage rolls all the time" is too overpowered for a class, let alone for a race. Even a flat +1 to either is extremely unlike 5e.
- "Advantage on every check you make with this skill" is similarly overpowered. Consider that advantage on a check is roughly akin to at least +5 or +6.
- Butterflies seem difficult to implement, and possibly inconsistent depending on how their feature is judged by the GM. Their feature is either useless (they have to willingly stare directly into your wings without looking away for a minute) or incredibly powerful (they see your wings while they look at you, letting you charm everyone you speak with). In either case, there is no specification for when the charmed condition ends; apparently it might last forever, even if you openly attack them.
