You transmute a normal wooden staff into a shaft of fire. You touch a nonmagical staff or straight wooden improvised weapon such as a broomstick. It becomes a magic weapon with a +2 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls, and it deals an extra 1d6 fire damage to any target it hits. In addition, the staff sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the extra fire damage increases to 2d6. When you use a spell slot of 8th level or higher, the extra damage increases to 3d6.
