Changes?[edit]

Should we change this to a chart for ease of reading? --Calidore Chase 03:23, 19 January 2007 (MST)

That would look nicer and be able to be read easier... However, I MoI'ed Dmilewski and would like to hear his input onto this idea as he is the main SRD person. --Green Dragon 10:34, 19 January 2007 (MST)
That reasonable. Propose something. --Dmilewski 11:43, 19 January 2007 (MST)
How about this?
Table: Improved Natural Attack Damage Increase
1d2 1d3 1d4 1d6 1d8 2d6 3d6 4d6 6d6 8d6 12d6
2d4 2d6 3d6 4d6 6d6 8d6 12d6
1d12 3d6 4d6 6d6 8d6 12d6
1d10 2d8 3d8 4d8 6d8 8d8 12d8 16d8
2d10 4d8 6d8 8d8 12d8 16d8
Or we could just point them in the direction of the weapon qualities rules. —Sledged 12:17, 19 January 2007 (MST)
I like that table, I say go for it; it will make it much easier to understand at a first glance. --Green Dragon 21:14, 20 January 2007 (MST)

Table explanations[edit]

please explain what the rows and columns represent, I can't quite make heads or tails of it :( I would also like an example for a monk, since the monk has natural attacks and could get this feat. 92.81.185.183 09:53, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Find the starting damage of the natural attack to which you want the feat to apply. The value immediately to the right is the new damage with the feat. For monks, this means you need to find out what your starting damage is based on your monk level. —Sledged (talk) 14:55, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

12-sided Dice[edit]

What does a attack increase (or decrease) to if it starts out dealing 2d12 damage? -- saint23thomas -- 22:12, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

See and/or post answers here.
6d6 I would imagine. Marasmusine (talk) 03:50, 18 April 2013 (MDT)

Monk + Improved Natural Attack[edit]

Just to mention this in case ppl are looking for the information: Monks can take this feat and increase their dice one category higher. They do have to apply it to "monk fists" or something like that, and getting this feat again for, lets say, claws, separately. A karate chop is different than a claw attack.108.162.231.174 12:19, 2 July 2012 (MDT)

"Monk fists" are not a natural attack, they are unarmed attacks and thus do not qualify for natural attack options such as this feat.
Actually they are (natural attack) as seen here, extracted fro. He SRD
"A monk’s unarmed strike is treated both as a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons."--Belphegor_H 04:02, 12 October 2013 (MDT)
Just trying to help in this discussion, have this quote:
This is the official answer from Andy Collins, directly quoted from Dragon Magazine #336 and the FAQ 10/20/05 (updated 2/24/06):

-Can a monk take Improved Natural Attack (Monster Manual, page 304) to improve his unarmed strike? -Yes. As stated on page 41 of the Player's Handbook, a monk's unarmed strike "is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either", which includes feats such as Improved Natural Attack. Barring multiclassing, the earliest a monk could take this feat would be at 6th level (due to the base attack bonus prerequisite), at which point her unarmed strike damage would improve from 1d8 to 2d6 (which represents an average increase of +2.5 points of damage). The same monk at 20th level would deal 4d8 points of damage with her unarmed strike.
