Orb of Light
Evocation [Light]
Level: Bard 1, cleric 1, sorcerer/wizard 1
Components: V, M/DF
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Effect: One hovering ball of light
Duration: 1 hour/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell creates a floating, mobile ball of light that provides bright illumination within 20 feet and shadowy illumination within 40 feet. The orb occupies a 5-foot square but is insubstantial and does not affect a creature whose square it occupies in any way (other than providing illumination). The orb can be moved up to 30 feet by the caster as a free action once per round. Alternatively, the orb can be commanded to follow the caster or another willing creature; while following a target, the orb will move up to 30 feet per round, attempting to remain in an adjacent square. If the distance between the orb and the caster ever exceeds the spell's range, orb of light automatically ends.

A light spell counters and dispels a darkness spell of an equal or lower level.

Material Component: A firefly or a piece of phosphorescent moss.
