Fearless Leader

"Every choice we make allows us to manipulate the future."
—Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Human, Fearless Leader, Enterprise Transcripts

At the head of every great unit is a strong-willed leader willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. A Fearless Leader not only commands respect and admiration from her subordinates, but from all those she encounters on the battlefield. She lives to support her team, highlighting their strengths while covering up their weaknesses, despite the challenges at hand. Fearless Leaders tend to find themselves facing tremendous odds, but through sheer perseverance, they are able to rally their teams to victory. Through trial and error of many battles, a Fearless Leader knows what lies in the balance, and has the experience and confidence to face any and all challenges head-on.

Becoming a Fearless Leader

To become a Fearless Leader is a selfless act; those with a natural talent to lead others often choose this path to perfect their talents and challenge themselves, while others see it as a path to greater power. Others are simply thrust into the role by others due to their strong leadership qualities. Fighters and Barbarians commonly become fearless leaders and command bands of adventurers, mercenaries or nomadic tribes. Bards also make for effective Fearless Leaders, relying more of their bright personalities to keep group morale high and cunning wits to guide their allies to victory. Paladins and Clerics often seek to provide leadership to those who need it in the name of their patron deities.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Fearless Leader.

Spellcasting: At each level, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in a spellcasting class to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one spellcasting class before becoming a Fearless Leader, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known.

Commanding Presence (Ex): The mere presence of a Fearless Leader can sometimes turn the tide of a situation. Once per encounter, as an immediate action, a Fearless Leader may allow an ally within medium range to reroll one die roll. The target must use the result of the reroll even if it is lower than the original roll.

Leadership Tactics (Ex): At 1st, 3rd, and 5th levels, a Fearless Leader may choose one Leadership Tactic from the list below. Each ability may only be selected once.

Bonus Feat: The Fearless Leader may select a Bonus Feat from the list of Fighter Bonus Feats. At Level 4, she may select an additional Bonus Feat.

Communication Link: A Fearless Leader may cast sending at-will as a spell-like ability. At level 4, she may establish links of communication as per Telepathic Bond.

Demoralizing Blow: Once per round, immediately after making a successful melee attack, a Fearless Leader may make an Intimidate check against the target of the attack. If it succeeds, she can make an additional attack at her highest Base Attack Bonus or cast one of her spells or spell-like abilities as an immediate action. At level 4, She may make the Intimidate attempt after a ranged attack or spell as well.

Larger Than Life: The Fearless Leader's confidence is enhanced by her ability to lead effectively. She may add half her Leadership score to all Diplomacy, Gather Information, Intimidate, and Sense Motive Checks. At level 4, She may add her entire Leadership score.

Thunderous Battlecry: Once per encounter, a Fearless Leader may let out a booming roar, replicating the effect of Good Hope on all allies within medium range, and Crushing Despair to all enemies within medium range. At Level 4, you may double the effects.

Truly Fearless: The Fearless Leader becomes immune to all fear effects. At Level 4, She may add half her Leadership Score to her Will saves.

Natural-Born Leader (Ex): At level 1, a Fearless Leader's unrivaled strength and oozing charisma are recognized by all who encounter her. Choose either Strength or Charisma. For Strength, add your Strength modifier to your Leadership score and all Charisma-based skills. For Charisma, you may add your Charisma modifier to attack and damage rolls, as well as all Strength-based skills.

Marching Orders (Ex): Once per round, a level 2 Fearless Leader may replicate the effect of command as a swift action.

Great Commanding Presence (Ex): A level 3 Fearless Leader may use her Commanding Presence ability twice per encounter. In addition, once per encounter, she may force an enemy within medium range to reroll one die roll. The target must use the result of the reroll even if it is higher than the original roll.

Improved Marching Orders (Ex): A 4th level Fearless Leader now speaks with even more authority. Once per round, she may replicate the effect of Greater Command as a swift action. This replaces the Marching Orders ability.

Legendary Commanding Presence (Ex): A 5th Level Fearless Leader may use her Commanding Presence ability three times per encounter, and her Great Commanding Presence ability twice per encounter. In addition, she may add or subtract one fourth of her Leadership score to the result of the rerolled dice.

Ex-Fearless Leaders

A Fearless Leader who either turns her back on her followers or chooses to give up on being a leader loses all of her class skills associated with being a Fearless Leader. She does, however, retain all saves and bonuses.
