Garrote Wire

Simple Melee Weapons
Weapon Cost Damage Weight Properties
Garrote Wire 1 sp 1d4 slashing damage, see special Finesse, Special, Two-handed or Light, see special

This wire is thin yet tough, and is often used to cut into the flesh it strangles. It can also be piano wire. Some skilled hitmen can use it with only one hand, like a noose. But its original use entails using both hands to exert maximum force.

Special. The garrote can be used as a light or two-handed weapon. When used as a light weapon, if the user has advantage on the attack roll, the target is grappled on a hit, but does not take any damage. Until the grapple ends, the target cannot breathe and begins to choke. Attacks against the grappled creature have advantage as long as it is grappled by this weapon.

When used as a two-handed weapon, the same effects apply and the target additionally takes 1d4 slashing damage on a hit.
