An incredibly large spider-council, composed of innumerable sorrow-spiders spread over the hulls of eight ships like melted wax, the tree of ages is a unique living ship created to both protect a chain of islands infested with and ruled by sorrow-spiders and enforce the will of their ruling spider-council. Propelled by the beating of thousands of legs, it is fairly maneuverable compared to conventional oar- or sail-powered ships. |
