A hulking, misshapen being, made up of dozens of sorrow-spiders fused and knotted together. The formation of these entities is a crucial part of sorrow-spider reproduction, as they are capable of implanting eyes with larvae; the spiders seek eyes which have been blessed (or cursed) with the burning radiance of the Correspondence because these produce offspring which form spider-councils more readily.
Their age, otherworldly wisdom, and dominating mental abilities are often leveraged to form cults or even entire communities of humanoids devoted to serving the spider-council and its extended family. Such groups can sometimes be identified by an unusual amount of both missing eyes and cobwebs, although these may be magically conceal from outsiders. Even if their presence is too overwhelming to disguise, sorrow-spiders may entice potential new subjects with offers to trade in silk and secrets.
Spider-councils are typically named in the format “Tree of -”, such as the Tree of Seasons, the Tree of Liberty, or the dreaded spider-ship known as the Tree of Ages.
