Heritage Rebuke
2nd-level Evocation
Casting time: 1 reaction which you take in response to being damaged by a creature within 10 feet of you.
Range: Self
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous

When attacked, you explode in hellish black flames, which continue burning for a while, then you reappear from the shadows up to 20 feet away.

After you take the damage of the attack that triggers this spell, you appear to erupt in a burst of shadows and fire, and the creature that damaged you must make a Dexterity saving throw. The creature takes 1d6 fire damage and 1d6 necrotic damage and then takes an additional 1d4 fire damage and 1d4 necrotic damage at the start of their next turn, taking full damage on a failed save and half the initial damage and none of the additional damage on a success. In addition, choose an unoccupied space within 20ft of you. You appear to burn to ashes in the explosion of damage, and then rise in your new space, appearing to reform from motes of shadow and flame. You may make an intimidation check against the insight check of the creature that damaged you. If you win the roll, that creature cannot make any more attacks against you, and are frightened of you until the end of their next turn. They have disadvantage on the insight check if they failed their previous dexterity save.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, add an extra dice for each dice roll made for each slot level above 2nd.
