A feather haltija is a forest spirit born from the collective power of the ghosts of animals slaughtered for meat and driven by their anger and fear. It appears to be a tangled, shifting mass of antlers and bones from dozens of species; on either side are large moose antlers, almost winglike except that their subtle movements don't correspond to those of the creature as a whole. Underneath, several antlers jut out and curve together, forming a claw or mouth; from the center, a long, thin wire hangs down. Covered in spots of rust and dried blood, this wire has countless sets of blades running down either side of its length, and from a distance it could be mistaken for a massive feather. |
