Sloglobite (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Sloglobite
Medium monstrosity, unaligned Armor Class 11 (natural armor)
Saving Throws Strength +4, Wisdom +2 Amphibious. The sloglobite can breathe air and water. Wormbrain Host. The sloglobite can't be compelled to act in a manner contrary to its nature. ACTIONSSlam. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d6) bludgeoning damage. Cranial Bomb. The sloglobite's head explodes, rendering it unconscious. Creatures within 10 ft. of the sloglobite must make a successful DC 12 Constitution save or become infested with brain-flukes. While infected, creatures must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom throw or be controlled by the flukes; this save is made at the start of every hour. Creatures controlled this way stay and protect the sloglobite as it regenerates a new head, generally taking 1d4 + 4 days; afterwards, they wander off and this effect ends. If a creature is not controlled by the flukes for 4 consecutive hours, for any reason, this effect ends.

A simple creature, the sloglobite would generally be harmless if not for the parasitic colony of brain-flukes which serve as its brain. Bred to serve as a disposable and fast-growing host for these creatures, sloglobites are genetically programmed to take any measures necessary to defend their cargo, up to and including forcibly exploding their own heads. Otherwise, they are content to slowly comb the underground caverns they call home for eggs, mollusks, fungi, and other soft, non-threatening foods. |
