The machine lifeform called Adam is an enigma. Born from the machine collective's desires and bearing a deep-seated interest in humanity, he acts as a leader to his kind while using them in the pursuit of his own inscrutable goals. False Life. To the unaware, Adam seems wholly human. He has the appearance of a white-haired young man, he is warm to the touch, he expresses emotion and self-awareness, and he bleeds if cut. Yet his appearance is a falsehood, and beneath his charming exterior he is every bit as mechanical as any other machine lifeform. Flawed Emulation. Adam’s fascination with humanity leads him to collect books, scrolls, and other sources of information on human history, culture and customs. He ravenously devours this knowledge in an effort to emulate humankind, and fancies himself like something of an expert on humanity. Yet much like his appearance, his understanding of these things ring false: he takes metaphors literally and parables at face value. Furthermore, he believes that the core of humanity is evil. He considers anger, envy, and similar negative emotions to be the natural state of humans, and he will commit acts of wanton cruelty to provoke those emotions in his victims so that he can study them. Dangerous Infant. These statistics represent Adam shortly after his birth: a naked, disoriented creature that can barely string two words together and understands little of the world around him. He initially poses little threat, but if he comes under attack he rapidly grows more powerful and dangerous as he adapts to the threats facing him.
