Way of the Spider (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Way of the Spider
Monk Subclass
Monks of the Way of the Spider have tapped into the innate abilities of spiders. Most monks who follow the Way of the Spider were bitten by a spider infused with magical power, transferring it to the monk in question and granting them newfound powers.
- Spider Climb
Starting at 3rd level, you gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. Any benefits from your Unarmored Movement also apply to this climbing speed. You can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check. If you need to make an ability check for climbing, you can choose to make a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check in place of a Strength (Athletics) check.
You can climb on a vertical surface using only your feet, leaving your hands free, but while standing this way you are considered prone and can only move at half speed.
- Arachnid Agility
Also at 3rd level, you gain subtle but potent maneuverability like the spider spirit you embody.
When determining the distance you can jump, you can use your Dexterity score in place of your Strength score.
You always treat webs as normal terrain, whether they are nonmagical or magical.
- Webspinner
Starting at 6th level, you can use your ki to enhance your senses and create spider-like webs in a manner indistinguishable from magic. You can use your action to expend 2 ki point and cast one of the following spells:
- jump (can only target self)
- see invisibility
- stun person (can affect beasts as if they were humanoid)
- web
Wisdom is your casting ability for these spells.
Unlike the normal versions of these spells, you do not need to provide vocal components. You also do not require concentration to maintain their effects, but the effect ends if you cast any of these spells again, or cast another spell of 1st level or higher that requires concentration.
- Arachnid Acrobatics
At 11th level, you gain proficiency in the Acrobatics skill.
If you are already proficient, or later would gain proficiency a second time, you instead gain expertise with that skill. Expertise means your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with it. This benefit only applies if the skill isn’t already benefiting from a feature, such as Expertise, that doubles your proficiency bonus.
Additionally, when can cast jump on yourself, you now need only spend 1 ki point instead of 2.
- Webspinning Mastery
Beginning from 17th level, when casting one of your Webspinner spells, you need only expend 1 ki point instead of 2. Jump can now be cast without expending ki, and lasts until dispelled.
- Spider Sense
Upon reaching 17th level, you gain blindsight out to a range of 15 feet.
