Introduction
This pantheon is part of the Narnia fanfic setting. It can also be used with the Fortress Celestia campaign setting and many others.
This small pantheon is the result of C.S. Lewis combining elements of Christianity with classical ancient Greek (and other) mythologies.
- The Emperor Over the Sea and Aslan represent the Christian God, with the Emperor representing God's role as the supreme being, and Aslan representing the 'savior' aspect.
- God's enemies are represented by Jadis, Tash, and Taslan. Like Gary Gygax, Lewis also apparently saw the same dichotomy of evil, giving the 'demonic' or vile aspects of evil to Tash and the 'devilish' or tyrannical aspects of evil to Jadis. Another theme that seems to be present in Lewis' world is that Evil is deceptive (presumably in reference to Satan referred to as the 'Father of Lies'). Taslan is himself a lie: a diety that doesn't really exist!
- Presumably many more deities from anchient polytheistic religions exist in Narnia, but Bacchus and Silenius are the two who are depicted in the books fighting in Aslan's personal army of fantastic creatures.
