Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Woodcrafter.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Woodcrafters are proficient with all simple weapons, as well as the following: club, dagger, dart, quarterstaff, scimitar, scythe, sickle, shortspear, sling, and spear. They are also proficient with all natural attacks, all bows, and all weapons made largely or exclusively of wood. They are proficient with light armors by default, or any armor that is made largely of wood or plant fibers.

Bonus Crafting (Su): At Level 1, Level 4, and every 4 levels thereafter, the Woodcrafter may select a specialized Woodcrafting Form from the Crafting Table below, so long as they meet the other prerequisites. Whenever you would otherwise gain a feat, you may instead choose to take a Bonus Crafting feat so long as the other prerequisites are met.

Bend Wood (Su): A Woodcrafter's bond with an elemental plant spirit gives them the ability to manipulate local plant matter as though it were a part of their own body. They may increase or decrease the flexibility, tension strength, or durability of any plant matter within a range of 10' +5' per Crafter Level. If the Wood Crafter has Crafting Levels in other Crafter classes, these stack for all abilities, powers, and feats that depend on Crafting Level. The Woodcrafter may shape any wood within this range however they wish, cause it to wrap around objects, move in unnatural ways, levitate, harden, soften, or dance. This applies to living or dead plant matter of any kind, though objects bearing active magic (wondrous items, holy symbols, plant creatures, etc), are entitled to a fortitude save to negate the effect. The amount of wood that can be manipulated with Bend Wood is equal to 10 lbs per Crafter Level. Attacks made through Bent Wood are treated as natural attacks, equivalent to a lethal unarmed strike, with a hit die equivalent to Medium +1 for every 5 Crafter Levels, and a strength score equal to your Crafter level plus wisdom modifier.

Plant Sense (Su): The Wood Crafter gains intuitive awareness of all living plant matter within 10' +5' per Crafter Level. This counts as blind sight with regards exclusively to currently living plants, and grants a +4 dodge bonus against weapons made primarily of wood and wooden projectiles. At Level 10, this improves to include all plant matter, living and dead, allowing them to sense the floor of a completely dark room, the branches of nearby trees while climbing at night, or the clothing of an invisible assassin moving towards their backs, negating the advantages of concealment.

Elemental Companion (Su): Starting at Level 1, the Woodcrafter gains an animal companion as per the Druid class. This companion must be given a name, levels up with you as per the Animal Companion class feature, and is the source of the Woodcrafter's abilities. Any companion animal may be chosen, or the GM may choose on your behalf, but all Woodcrafter animal companions gain the Plant-Imbued Creature template. By default, the Elemental Companion is incorporeal, and may not act except by granting it's powers to the Wood Crafter. As a full round action, the Woodcrafter may manifest their Elemental Companion to fight alongside them, but, while doing this, they lose all Spell-Like abilities for the duration that they are separated. If the Elemental Companion ever dies, the Woodcrafter loses all Spell-Like abilities, and must find a new Elemental Companion within one week, or else choose a new class and lose all Woodcrafter powers and abilities.

Precision Training (Ex): Starting at 2nd level, a Wood Crafter can select a single weapon (or ranged weapon with appropriate ammunition) made largely or exclusively out of wood. They gain a bonus equal to her Dexterity modifier on damage rolls when firing that type of weapon. Every four levels thereafter (6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th), the Wood Crafter picks up another type of appropriate weapon, gaining these bonuses for those types as well. When additional Precision Training ranks are gained beyond the first, the Woodcrafter may instead choose to augment all previously chosen weapons, gaining a cumulative +1 to hit and damage with that weapon or weapons for each rank added past the first.

Guided Shot (Su): Starting at Level 3, the Woodcrafter has learned to augment their weapons with the help of their magic. This allows them to treat Full Cover as Partial Cover, ignore Partial Cover, and gain a Circumstance Bonus to attack and damage rolls with bows, or weapons made exclusively of wood, equal to half their Crafter Level rounded down. They may also treat the range increment of any wooden projectile (arrows, javelins, wooden sling bullets, etc), as 5' further per Crafter Level.

Active Camouflage (Su): Starting at Level 6, the Woodcrafter gains the supernatural ability to alter the shape and color of any living or dead plant matter within the range of their Bend Wood ability. This can be used to actively recolor their clothing, their surroundings, and subtly alter the way light interacts with the local plants to create an effect similar to that of invisibility. In any area with sufficient plant matter, or while wearing clothing or armor made of natural fibers, this ability may be activated as a full round action to grant yourself the benefits of the Blur spell while moving, or the Invisibility spell while still.

Flex and Bend (Su): Starting at Level 9, the Woodcrafter has learned to finely attune their magic and body to work together seamlessly in tandem, striking weak spots for maximum effect with both ranged and melee weapons. The Woodcrafter now treats any weapons made entirely of wood as though they possessed the Weapon Finesse feat, regardless of their size or weight. Their magic allows them to get the most out of every shot, and add their full strength modifier to the damage of all shots made with ranged weapons and light weapons made entirely of wood. They may also reduce the ACP of any armor made primarily of plant matter by 2, and increase the Max Dex by +2.

Evasion (Ex): Starting at Level 11, the Woodcrafter's reflexes allow them to dodge and evade harm with remarkable agility. If they make a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, they instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the Woodcrafter is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless Woodcrafter does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Animated Ammunition (Su): Starting at Level 14, the Woodcrafter's elemental bond has reached the point of active connection even over great distances. Rather than simply falling inert after striking their mark, the arrows, bolts, javelins, or other primarily wooden ammunition remain animated, and may make attack actions against any target within 5' of the original target. These projectiles count as Dancing Weapons of the appropriate size, and remain animated for one full turn per 5 Crafter Levels, at which point they explode, dealing 1d4 damage each to anything in adjacent squares, or fall inert on the ground, at the Woodcrafter's discretion.

Passive Camouflage (Su): Starting at Level 17, the Woodcrafter's ability to move unseen has become the stuff of legends. As a swift action, the Woodcrafter may grant themselves total concealment so long as they are outside the line of sight of any hostiles, for a number of turns per day equal to 1/2 their Crafter Level plus their wisdom modifier. Alternatively, they may grant Active Camouflage to up to one person per 5 Crafter levels plus themselves, so long as they meet all of the other requirements listed above.

Spiderwood Willow (Su): At Level 20, the Woodcrafter has reached a level of unity with their wood spirit that the two can act with complete unity of mind and purpose. The Woodcrafter no longer loses their Supernatural powers when their Companion Animal is manifested. In addition, they may at will create for themselves up to four additional limbs, made out of wood or other plant matter, that count as extra arms for the purposes of wielding weapons, manipulating objects, skills and abilities, climbing, or natural attacks. Each can attack every turn, as part of a full round action. They grant a +8 innate bonus to all combat maneuvers attempted while they are manifested. They may act as hands, tentacles, legs, pincers, or any other simple configuration that the Woodcrafter desires, up to one size larger or smaller than the Woodcrafter themselves for purposes of size bonuses, and may wield weapons (if appropriately shaped to do so), as though they possessed the Multiweapon Fighting feat. These extra limbs cannot be manifested while the Woodcrafter's Elemental Companion is manifested, but they may operate independently if desired, attacking adjacent foes as if a separate creature while the Woodcrafter picks a lock, employs their magic, or is otherwise distracted.

Ex Woodcrafters[edit]

A Woodcrafter's power comes from their bond with their Elemental Companion. This companion can be willed away upon a contested Will Roll with their Elemental Companion if the Woodcrafter ever desires it, costing them their levels as a Woodcrafter unless they find another suitable companion within one week. This must also be done in the event that the Elemental Companion is slain by any means. Should they fail to find a suitable replacement, all class levels are lost, and the Woodcrafter must choose a new suitable class.

Table:Bonus Crafting Feats (Yew)
Feat Prerequisites Effect
Branchwraith Woodcrafter Level 1 You gain a climb speed equal to half your land speed, and may climb trees up to your maximum climb speed as a swift action. Take no penalties from moving, fighting, and shooting from tree branches. Gain a +4 bonus to CMD while standing on a surface made of wood, and a +4 bonus to stealth while moving through trees.
Leaf on the Wind Woodcrafter Level 3 You no longer provoke attacks of opportunity from using ranged weapons within melee range, and gain a +4 bonus to acrobatics checks to move through opposing squares without provoking attacks of kpportunity.
Ghost of the Grass Woodcrafter Level 6 You may, as a full-round action, cause 1 5' square per Crafter level of terrain within your Bend Wood range to rapidly shoulder height grass. This grass is sharp, hard to move through, and halves the movement speed of any Large or smaller creature attempting to move through it. All allies may move through the grass as normal, and gain concealment if at least one square of grass is between them and an opponent.
Reap the Chaffe Woodcrafter Level 9, Branchwraith While shooting or attacking from a higher elevation, or against a target that is unaware of you, the first attack against them gains an insight bonus to hit equal to the number of 5' squares above them you are, and 1d6 of added precision damage per 5 Class Levels. This extra damage is not multiplied in the case of a critical hit.
Bend and Break Woodcrafter Level 12, Branchwraith, Leaf on the Wind, Ghost in the Grass Each time the Woodcrafter kills a target from concealment or a higher elevation, all opponents that witness the death are panicked for one turn unless they succeed a will save (DC = 10 + 1/2 Crafter Level + WIS modifier). This is a fear effect.
Thorns beyond Counting Woodcrafter Level 15, All other Yew Feats As a full round action, the Woodcrafter may take a single shot at every target within their field of view at their full Base Attack Bonus. In addition to ordinary damage, these projectiles are treated as having the Keen special property. Using Thorns Beyond Counting ends any concealment, and the Woodcrafter may not regain concealment by any means until the beginning of their next turn. During this time, they take a -2 bonus to their AC for each target they shoot at.

Table:Bonus Crafting Feats (Oak)
Feat Prerequisites Effect
Woodpact Woodcrafter Level 1 While all Crafters and their Companion Elementals share a close bond, yours is stronger than most. Whenever your Elemental Companion is manifested, gain a +2 innate bonus to whichever your Elemental Companion's best stat is, and they gain a +2 innate bonus to one stat of your choice for which you have a positive modifier.
Treebrother Woodcrafter Level 3 Choose one Teamwork feat. Both you and your Elemental Companion gain this feat whenever they are fully manifested. This Bonus Crafting Feat may be taken multiple times, with each granting you and your Elemental Companion a new Teamwork Feat.
Branch and Root Woodcrafter Level 6, Woodpact Whenever you or your Elemental Companion take damage, you may choose to evenly split the damage between you. If either of you possess DR, only the one initially hit may apply it.
Deep Bonds Woodcrafter Level 9, Woodpact, Branch and Root Choose one Supernatural power that normally isn't available while your Elemental Companion is manifested. You may continue to use this power even while your Companion is manifested. Once chosen, this cannot be changed.
As One Woodcrafter Level 12, Woodpact, Branch and Root, Deep Bonds Your Elemental Companion has become expert in rapidly manifesting and returning to you, allowing for a more elegant transition between the two states. With this feat, the Elemental may manifest, or be dismissed, as a Move Action, instead of a Full Round Action.
Full Manifestation Woodcrafter Level 15, All other Oak Feats With this feat, you become capable of a full manifestation Crafting. For a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your Crafter Level + Constitution Modifier per day, you and your Elemental Companion can fuse. You gain a +8 innate bonus to Dexterity, natural armor and DR/Magic equal to 1/2 your Crafter Level, the natural attacks of your Elemental Companion if any, Woodland Stride, Spell Resistance, and Acute Senses as per the Plant-Imbued Creature template, Darkvision out to 60', a +4 innate bonus to Stealth checks, and temporary HP equal to half that of your Elemental Companion. You also gain Acid Resistance 20, but become vulnerable to fire.

Table:Bonus Crafting Feats (Willow)
Feat Prerequisites Effect
Writhing Woodcrafter Level 1 The nature of wood is to bend, and it lends this nature to the Woodcrafter. Gain a +1 dodge bonus to AC. For every 6 Woodcrafter levels, this bonus increases by 1, up to a maximum of +3 at Level 18.
Wreathing Woodcrafter Level 3 With this feat, the Woodcrafter has learned to use their union with their elemental companion to bend their bodies into impossible shapes without harm. Pick one of the following Combat Maneuvers: Trip, Disarm, Steal, Feint, Grapple, Dirty Trick. You add your Woodcrafter Level to your CMB and CMD with regards to this Combat Maneuver. This feat may be taken multiple times, and applies to a different maneuver each time.
Winding Woodcrafter Level 7 While in possession of a whip made of plant fibers, you may attack or perform one combat maneuver per round with this whip, at your full base attack bonus, as a free action. Doing so does not provoke attacks of opportunity, and can be done so long as the whip remains within your Bend Wood range. Any target struck by an attack or combat maneuver using the whip must make a reflex save or be entangled. A length of appropriately sized rope may count as a whip for the purposes of this feat. Your whip attacks may harm creatures with natural armor.
Reaping Woodcrafter Level 11, Winding With this feat, you may now make attacks or combat maneuvers with a whip, as per the Winding feat, multiple times as a free action granted by your Base Attack Bonus. This whip may also employ whip-related combat feats, do lethal damage at the Woodcrafter's discretion, and, once per day, attack all enemies in range as per the Whirlwind Attack feat, without any prerequisites, at your highest Base Attack Bonus.
Rending Woodcrafter Level 15, 3 other Willow feats, Winding At will, your whips may grow vicious thorns along it's length, causing deadly wounds. Add 1/2 your Woodcrafter level to the damage done by all whips, and may animate a second whip simultaneously as per the Winding feat. Both whips may attack or engage in Combat Maneuvers, against the same or separate targets, as a free action each round.
Razing Woodcrafter Level 18, all other Willow feats As a Full Round Action, you may become a nimbus of lashing vines. At your full Base Attack Bonus, each whip you carry, up to a maximum of one per hand and the two gained from Rending, may make a single attack or Combat Maneuver against every target within Reach.
Table:Bonus Crafting Feats (Elder)
Feat Prerequisites Effect
Elder's Death Woodcrafter Level 1 With the Elder's Death crafting feat, the Wood Crafter may perform a Death Attack, similar to the assassin ability of the same name. When armed with a bow or other weapon subject to the Precision Training class feature, you may take 3 full rounds to study a target before making a single shot against an opponent that is flanked, flat-footed, or otherwise denied it's DEX bonus to AC. If this shot hits and does damage, the target must succeed a fortitude save (DC = 10 + Class Level + WIS modifier) or be subjected to death, or paralysis, you decide. If the Wood Crafter is detected during the study period, or the attack fails to do damage, Elder's Death fails, and the target cannot be subject to it again for 24 hours.
Elder's Doom Woodcrafter Level 4 With this feat, you may increase the bonus given by Guided Shot by +1, as your Elemental Companion becomes steadily more capable of it's role guiding arrows to their precise target through study and practice. This feat may be taken multiple times, with each granting an additional +1, but the bonus may never exceed the character's Hit Die.
Elder's Cull Woodcrafter Level 8, Creaking Doom Your skill with the weapons of wood, elder to metal, grows stronger, allowing your weapons to hit harder and more precisely than ever before. Whenever you would normally add +1 to hit and damage using the Guided Shot class feature, you may forego the +1 to hit in exchange for replacing all +1 damage bonuses with +1d4 damage bonuses.
Elder's Fate Woodcrafter Level 12, Creaking Death With this feat, you may employ the Elder's Death attack without first studying your opponent for the normal 3 rounds. You must still make an attack and do damage, as per the requirements for Elder's Death. This ability may be used once per day.
Elder's Abundance Woodcrafter Level 16, Elder's Doom, Elder's Cull With this feat, you may, as a swift action, fire one additional arrow from a bow at your highest bonus per turn. This stacks with other abilities that add additional effects, such as Rapid Fire and Haste.
Touch of the Elder Woodcrafter Level 20, all other Elder feats Take a single shot with a ranged weapon to which Guided Shot Applies as a full-round action. Your fully empowered Elemental Companion inhabits it entirely, and guides it in an impossible swirling flight between targets. It takes a -2 to hit for each target struck, but does full damage to each, and may strike the same target over. If the projectile fails to do damage, the power ends.
